Popular shapes of burner covers are square, rectangle, and round (of course).  Square covers for stove burners are actually quite popular even though one would guess that round ones would be the winner hands down. Electric stove burner covers and gas stove burner covers are also highly sought after.  There are slight differences between the two which we'll cover below.

Material for a stove top burner cover is another concern that will weigh in on how you choose a burner cover.  The types that people seem to gravitate towards are ceramic or stainless steel (for obvious reasons, I think...the whole heat factor!). Review of Reston Lloyd Round and Square Stove Burner Covers: "... Square stove burner covers. These are pretty delicate. When they aren't laying flat they bend. When they're on your flat stove they're fine and look nice. They do scratch pretty simply though . I purchased these because I've a pretty little kitchen with some counter space and thought having burner covers would extend my counter space just a little. The 1st time I put something on them, afterward I spotted little scratches. Nothing major, the color stayed intact, but I was still bummed to see the scratches so shortly. They're simple to scrub as you can just wipe them off like you do your stove, but streaks stand out madly so I had to go over them a pair times with a, really clean sponge to get the streaks off and then again once with a dry paper towel to kind of buff them.

Knowing what I know now, I would go looking for a more solid quality burner cover with a matte finish instead. But for the most part, I cannot bitch. Yes, the come a bit warped, but once on burners, mine straightened out. They're fine. My other half and I are OK with them.

Round Stove Top Burner Cover Models. One time I turned on the cooker burner while the cover was still on it started to smell like like burning rubber. I quickly took away the cover and to my amazement there wasn't any damage. Which was wonderful none the less these have been great small covers. Product received as publicized and the color and fit are perfect. Having mentioned that, I find the standard of the material used to make these covers pretty fragile and tinny. Employing a higher measurement of metal would have made the standard of this product much better I've a teeny little stand-in-the-middle-and-reach-everything type residence kitchen, and plenty of preparation must occur on the oven top because there's very small counter space...as a result, food, moisture and all kinds of other stuff were always falling into my stove..."
